I live on the East Coast, so at the time of writing, 2009 is still a few hours away. As the year winds down, I’ve caught myself thinking about how this year went, and what I did with it.
2008 started out with good footing. We pretty much coasted through the first half of the year, with a couple minor events here and there, nothing too fancy. However, around the time of the Olympics, the ride started to get a little bumpy. Now, limping our way into 2009, we’ve got a slowly-but-surely tanking economy, various outbreaks of violence including the really recent Gaza-Israel incident, and all the usual social problems we Americans face on a regular basis yet still seem to shock us.
That being said, this year didn’t totally suck. Progress was made. The iPhone 3G came out, and with it the App store, one of the biggest and best collection of independent everything. We also had improvements in nearly every field of science, and were that much closer to cures and solutions for life’s problems.
On a more personal note, this year was a transition year for me. I started High School, discovered an interest in writing, rediscovered a passion for a good story, made some new friends, kept most of the old, found an interest in technology, podcasts, and fan fictions, and realized I want to start to steep my life in the way I want to.
So, this year is the first year I’m going to make serious resolutions. This list is basically things I want to do by this time next year, and they are as follows:
- Learn how to play guitar
- Learn how to draw
- Write a lot more
- Diversify what I write about
- Start a podcast
So yeah, there they are. It’s nice to write down your goals, so you don’t forget them. In other news, expect a Sonic Unleashed (Wii) ‘review’ by Monday, and the next story’s almost done, but I’m going to go over this one once the rough draft’s done, for quality purposes. Look for major additions to the blog in January!
Well, that’s it for this year. See you on the other side of the year, and here’s to hoping! Good bye, 2008; don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
